Say Goodbye to Minecraft VR Support

Attention all Minecraft fans! It’s time to bid farewell to Minecraft’s official support for virtual reality and mixed reality devices. In a recent announcement, Mojang disclosed that Minecraft would cease its VR headset support after March 2025. With the latest Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 1.21.80 Update, the much-anticipated removal of VR support has finally taken place.

Although Mojang assured players that they would still receive updates on their PC, continue playing without a VR/MR device, and retain access to building worlds and Marketplace purchases, the end of VR support marks a significant shift. The decision to discontinue VR support was attributed to Mojang’s conclusion that “our ability to support VR/MR devices has come to an end.”

Despite this development, avid players can still immerse themselves in the Minecraft universe using VR headsets through alternative means. For those with the Java version of the game on PC, mods like Vivecraft or QuestCraft offer avenues to experience Minecraft in virtual reality. These mods cater to a wide range of VR platforms, including Meta Quest headsets.

The termination of official VR support for Minecraft may evoke nostalgia for those who recall the awe-inspiring Minecraft demo for HoloLens. Nevertheless, the Minecraft community remains resilient and resourceful, finding innovative ways to keep the virtual adventures alive.

As we embrace this evolution in the Minecraft universe, let’s treasure the memories and look forward to the limitless creativity and exploration that lie ahead. Whether in VR or traditional gameplay, the spirit of Minecraft continues to inspire and captivate players around the globe. Let’s keep building, crafting, and gaming together!
